School Profile & History

From humble beginnings to a thriving institution of excellence

Our Foundation

St. Mary's High School was founded in 1962 by the Anglican Diocese of Harare (C.P.C.A), based on Christian principles with no prejudice intended against non-Christians. The school has been in existence for 63 years.

In 1962, the school had an initial enrolment of 70 male boarding students with a teaching staff complement of 3, including our founder Principal Mr. WF Hall. The school started with infrastructure that was very scanty - pole and dagga buildings - but the founder group of students and staff loved and enjoyed the humble beginnings of a great journey that we are all part of today. The school enrolled its first group of females in 1976.
